Forensic Investigations

Forensic Investigations

Suspect your accountant has mismanaged or misappropriated your company's money? Our forensic accounting team examines the records, quantifies what you have lost, and builds the evidence needed to recover it.

Understanding Your Position

What is a forensic investigation?

A forensic investigation is a detailed examination of your company's financial records to establish whether money has been misappropriated, misreported or lost — and if so, exactly how much.

Where a trusted accountant, bookkeeper or finance professional has been left in control of your books, irregularities can go unnoticed for years. Records may be incomplete, transactions unexplained, or filings quietly missed while penalties build up in the background.

We reconstruct the financial picture from the records that do exist — bank statements, invoices, filings and correspondence — then quantify the losses and put the evidence in a form that supports a recovery claim, a regulatory complaint or an insurance notification.

Evidence fades over time

Records get lost, access is cut off, and memories fade. Recovering the financial trail is far easier while you still have access to your own books and bank data.

Signs something may be wrong

Any one of these on its own may be innocent. Several together usually warrants a closer look at the books.

Accounts that never quite add up, or figures that change without explanation
Unexplained payments, transfers or withdrawals from company funds
Missing records, invoices or bank statements you were never shown
Tax returns, VAT or filings you discover were never submitted
Unexpected HMRC penalties, late filing notices or escalating demands
An accountant who is evasive, unreachable, or has suddenly resigned
